What was 2020 missing if not a steaming river of black sludge.

The video originally posted on Twitter by Pima County officials, shows the fast flowing steaming river of sticks and debris advancing through a dry river bed.

As it seems, as the climate changes have made wildfires more common, the risk of flash floods becomes more likely.

This happens because, after wildfire the soil is no longer able to absorb as much water as it did before and just even minor rains can trigger this sort of event.

There is no denying that the effects of climate warming on natural and human systems are becoming increasingly visible across the globe.

Year after year, single hottest year records are broken, as well as areas burned by wildfire in a great deal of countries around the world.

None of this comes as a surprise as evidence that warmer temperatures are associated with spikes in fire activity.

The only question is when will we start to take responsibility for these events?
