Swarms of desert locusts tear through Rajasthan in northern India

India faces worst locust threat in almost 3 decades.
If struggling with the series of crises induced by the Coronavirus pandemic wasn’t enough, India is now being forced to deal with this Ecological crisis, as desert locusts consume vegetation and crops, causing widespread damage.
The truth is this is just another threat Indian farmers have to deal with in recent years.
Not really making headlines around the world but India has been experiencing widespread drought conditions, since 2015. In total, some 600 million people are facing extreme water stress conditions according to the Government’s own report.
As climate change worsens, crops fail and drinkable water runs out, it seems uncertain how such a large population will be able to deal with the issue.
India is not the only country facing this problem though. Since the beginning of the year, North East Africa has also been facing the worst invasion of the last 25 years that have since reached East African countries, before finally moving on to India & Pakistan.
