Scenes from protests, riots across the U.S. after killing of George Floyd

CNBC Television

Jun 1, 2020 / 2.19 min

We thought long and hard if we should post the video of George’s Floyd killing (the unarmed black man died after a white Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes despite cries from Floyd that he could not breathe) or a video of the unrest that followed with protesters and police clashing, riots, vigils and all sort of public displays.

In the end we chose the last option, not because the video itself was more relevant or interesting but because we believe the aftermath of this event is now of great importance.

In such a social, political and racial divided society as is the US, police (and police violence) has been a major player in adding fuel to the fire. Thus, any or no changes coming from this may play a big part in American politics in the near future (especially with an election coming up).
