Beirut explosion: footage shows massive blast shaking Lebanon’s capital

Guardian News

Aug 4, 2020 / 0.40 min

Apparently, although not yet confirmed, the cause of the explosion, according to the Lebanon’s interior minister, has been stores of ammonium nitrate.

More than 2,750 tonnes of it as it seems had been stored in a warehouse for six years without safety measures.

Although the explosion itself is massive, the shockwave is what strikes us as most impressive. You can almost feel it through the screen of your device.

This footage of a mass being broadcast online (due to covid-1) just helps to understand how strong that shockwave was.

There are already some videos of the aftermath as well showing windows blown out, streets littered with debris and cars upturned by the strength of the blast(s).
